12 midnight: PATRICE BÄUMEL (KOMPAKT, TROUW, MY FAVORITE ROBOT)
Patrice Bäumel, a German residing in Amsterdam, is an internationally recognised DJ and producer. Since graduating from Red Bull Music Academy in Sao Paulo in 2002 and deciding to turn his hobby into a career, his only goal has been to create and share music that spreads love, a positive spirit and happiness, music oriented toward connecting people.
Bäumel imbibes his creations and DJ sessions with contagious energy and a sense of adventure, creating a sound that pleases both the mind and the body, that he calls “techno music for adults.” Productions such as “Roar,” “Mike Tyson” and “Mile High Gang” and remixes, such as his re-working of “Endless Games” by BLOND:ISH’s are perfect examples of his philosophy.
He was selected by the compilation series Balance to release his latest mixes, and has also released his Eps with Correspondant and Speicher/Kompakt, as well as remixes for Underworld and Steve Reich. As he DJ, he is a quarterly permanent fixture for Midnight Sun at De Marktkantine (Amsterdam), where he receives guests such as Mind Against and Roman Flügel. Today, he is preparing for a tour in the United States and Latin America, as well as visits to several different European cities to present his “Balance Mix.”
Vibronics starting moving the masses with bass notes in 1995. Their music has solidified them as main avant-garde musicians on the UK DUB scene. And their label, Scoops, with over 40 references, has become a classic, always to be found in the most important DJs' libraries. Their sessions are booked all around the world.
