Antoni Tàpies. From Object to Sculpture (1964–2009)

10.04.2013 - 01.19.2014

This is the first comprehensive, in-depth retrospective of Antoni Tàpies’s sculptures and objects from his entire career, spanning nearly five decades from the 1960s to the present day.
Based on the idea of assemblage, Tàpies developed an interest—which he maintained throughout his life—in the formal and conceptual aspects of producing objects and sculptures, a line of research that allowed him to express specific interests and artistic preoccupations.
Featuring a wide variety of media and materials, this show explores Tàpies’s thematic, conceptual and chronological continuity in the production of sculptures and objects, offering new readings and perspectives on this artist’s influence on the art of his time.
