El Museo Guggenheim Bilbao presentará una exposición de retratos de David Hockney en 2017
El Museo Guggenheim Bilbao albergará a partir de noviembre del año que viene David Hockney. Retratos, una exposición de aproximadamente 70 obras comisariada por Edith Devaney de la Royal Academy of Arts de Londres.
Tras la exposición de paisajes monumentales que el Museo ofreció en 2012, Hockney se alejó de la pintura y de su Yorkshire natal para regresar a Los Ángeles. Poco a poco retomó la realización de retratos, pausada y reflexiva, y durante los meses siguientes se sumergió totalmente en este género. Ese renovado vigor creativo le llevó a invitar a personas de diversas esferas de su vida a posar para él en su taller. Los cuadros, de idénticas dimensiones, muestran a todos los modelos en una misma silla y ante un mismo fondo azul brillante; cada uno fue pintado en el transcurso de tres días. No obstante, la maestría de Hockney permite que la personalidad del retratado surja del lienzo con una cálida inmediatez.
La muestra se exhibe actualmente en la Royal Academy of Arts de Londres y posteriormente viajará a la National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, antes de recalar en Bilbao.

If your request is approved, you must send a list of all team members before the day of the shooting.
The use of Museum images in videos and other audio-visual productions may be subject to a fee. Our Images Committee reviews every request individually. Since this may take three working days to two full weeks, we suggest you plan your video shooting ahead of time.

All images must be properly attributed, without being altered, cropped, or overwritten. Reproductions other than the aforementioned require approval in writing from the Museum.
