Engaging in art activities and enjoying art in a quiet atmosphere have a positive impact on our physical and emotional balance. Based on this view, which we share with the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), we have organized a talk with CNIO Director Maria Blasco, who specializes in telomeres (genetic structures that are key to the lives of cells and organisms) and telomerase, visual artist Amparo Garrido, and Australian-American biological scientist Elizabeth Blackburn (joining from the USA), winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 2009 for her research into the negative effects of stress on telomerase and telomeres, which accelerates ageing at the cellular level and thus increases the risk of disease and shortens life expectancy.
Working together in the context of CNIO Arte 2023, Garrido and Blackburn embarked on an inner journey through meditation. In this talk, together with Blasco, they will talk about modern lifestyles, art and meditation, telomeres, and health.
