Martha Jungwirth, gesture and color
Martha Jungwirth, gesture and color

As part of the Didaktika initiative, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao designs educational spaces, online content, and special activities to complement its exhibitions, offering tools and resources to enhance the public’s appreciation of the works on display.

On this occasion, the Didaktika devoted to Martha Jungwirth introduces visitors into the Austrian artist’s realm of color and gesture. In the exhibition’s Didaktika space visitors will find a collection of Jungwirth’s own artistic materials —brushes, oil paints, and mixing bowls—to help better visualize her creative processand information about the different techniques Jungwirth has explored throughout her career.

A section is also devoted to the exploration of some of Jungwirth’s recent series inspired by the paintings of renowned artists like Frans Hals, Francisco de Goya, and Édouard Manet. An analysis of the brushstroke and palette of Jungwirth’s paintings will reveal kinships with the techniques of these Masters.
