Politecnico di Milano

Autofficina Futuro

This project recalls the idea of the auto body shop, the carrozzeria, a representative example of “Made in Italy” craftsmanship where, at the beginning of the 20th century, cars were repaired, improved and modified in dialogue with the customer.

If Leonardo Da Vinci teaches us that “motion is the cause of every life”, Autofficina Futuro tempts the visitor to change the installation as (s)he gets/they get closer to it, and, thereby discover it. An imaginary landscape is shown on the five monitors. Standing in front of one of them will start the narration of one of 12 stories, envisioned by the students of the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano to emerge.

Each project responds to a specific challenge and investigates different aspects of the environment, city, society, community and individual. Each project can be explored through the QR codes shown on the side, revealing additional content and referring to a digital Instagram exhibition.
