12 midnight: Smash TV (Culprit, Hive Audio, Katermukke, Germany)
Style: Electronic music
Smash TV are Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner – internationally renowned DJs, producers and performers. Their shows, casual and humorous, are brought all over the world every weekend.
11 pm: Jonathan Kusuma (I’m a Cliché, Cocktail d’Amore, Indonesia)
Style: Indie dance, nu-disco
Jonathan Kusuma, one of Jakarta’s best-kept secrets, is coming to Europe in February, with sessions in Bilbao, Barcelona, Berlin and Marseille. The Indonesian producer, who has recorded with I’m a Cliché, Correspondant and Cocktail d’Amore, has developed his own sound by mixing disco and electronic body music in new, unexpected ways, showing what dance music would be like if house and techno music had never come to exist. This results in music for the dance floor with narcotic, hypnotic, hedonistic effects. In 2016, one of his mixes was among Beatport staff picks in Indie Dance/Nu-Disco music.
10 pm: DJV Sound (Fever, Bilbao)
Style: Electronic music
A pioneer of electronica in Bilbao, José Vicente López, aka DJV Sound, has been a DJ and promoter since 1978. From Thebas, a club where he rubbed shoulders with José Luis Rebollo (aka Madelman), he moved to Palladium, one of the first live electronic music joints in Bilbao.
In 1998, José joined Javi Franco and they set up NoDaTa, an unprecedented initiative in Bilbao to promote music and art activities in the main clubs in town. Thanks to NoDaTa, local audiences were able to listen to the likes of John Acquaviva, Ian Pooley, Märtini Brös, Tiefschwarz, Chris Duckenfield and Sideral. As DJV Sound, he brought the Sónar festival (Barcelona, Spain) to a close in 2001 and performed at the Sun Dance Music Festival (Tallinn, Estonia) in 2002, at FIB (Benicàssim, Spain) in 2003, and at Electrogaia (Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain) in 2001 and 2003.
Since 2005, José Vicente López has been the manager of Fever, a club in Bilbao that has revolutionized the city’s social and cultural life. Besides, he offers regular DJ performances in Europe and beyond, appearing at the world’s leading venues and festivals: Der Machine (Leuven), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), GOA (Madrid), Barraca (Valencia), Electromind (Montpellier), Catwalk (Rotterdam), Weekend (Berlin), Rote Sonne and Palais (Munich), Lazarus (Brussels), Flex and Pratersauna (Vienna), and DocsDF (Mexico).
