ELVIS PERKINS IN DEARLAND

Elvis Perkins is an international singer-songwriter and guitarist who performs indie folk pop music. His musical style has been compared to that of classic singer-songwriters, such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, and Nick Drake, or to other more recent musicians such as Jeff Buckley or Elliott Smith.

At this concert, Elvis Perkins will be accompanied by his band, known collectively as Elvis Perkins in Dearland, featuring the multi-instrumentalists Brigham Brough (double bass, saxophone, and vocals), Wyndham Boylan-Garnett (organ, harmonium, trombone, guitar, and vocals) and Nick Kinsey (percussion, clarinet, harmonica, and vocals).

Elvis Perkins spent his childhood and adolescence between New York and Los Angeles and developed an early love of music that led him to take up the saxophone as a child. As a teenager he learned guitar from The Knack bassist Prescott Niles and played in several rock bands. During that time, he discovered the music of Simon & Garfunkel, which sparked an interest in classical guitar and the combination of music and poetry. He began writing poems that he would gradually integrate into his songs.
