Admission

€42 Members / €54 general public

More information

Individual sessions (subject to availability): €7 Museum Members/€9 general public.

In this course, you will learn how to tell stories using digital images, as well as a wealth of active, creative uses of photography. In addition, you will develop a critical look at the constant presence of image in modern society and the various approaches to reality associated with it.

We will first study still images and then move on to motion pictures, grasping the basics of photography: composition, framing, lighting, landscape photography, the rule of thirds, and other concepts.

You will be encouraged to work in groups when planning your images, coming up with creative solutions for your assignments and resorting to experimentation, creativity, and play. In search of inspiration, you will visit the exhibitions dedicated to Yoshitomo Nara, Anthony McCall, and Paul Pfeiffer.

You are welcome to bring your mobile phone, tablet, or camera along to take pictures.

To sign up for this course, a parent or guardian must sign a form authorizing picture taking during the workshops.

The course is conceived of as a series of progressive workshops to unfold from October to May. The first six workshops (October-November) will be followed by a new module in January 2025.

Sunday, October 13: Seeing, Blinking, Looking

Every look begins in the eye, but seeing is not the same as looking. In this workshop, we will take a look at the Museum and some of its works from an unusual perspective, in search for fragments and details.

Sunday, October 20: Pixels

What are digital images made of? A pixel is the smallest addressable element in a digital image. In this workshop, we will think about looking in connection with the work of Yoshitomo Nara.

Sunday, October 27: Building an Image

In this workshop, we will play image-building games to promote spontaneity and improvisation.

Sunday, November 3: The World in Your Hands

Is everything we see real? Photography can help us make small things big and vice versa.

Sunday, November 10: Images That Tell Stories

Color, form, composition, and lighting are the tools we need to say what we want to say with a picture.

Sunday, November 17: Motion

How is motion represented in still images? In this workshop, we will learn how to capture movement in photography.
