Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hungarian-Austrian composer György Ligeti (b. 1923; d. 2006), the Museum will host a wind quintet concert (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, and French horn) whose program will include Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles and Ten Pieces, as well as the Wind Quintet, Op. 2 by another Hungarian composer, György Kurtág (b. 1926), and the Wind Quintet by Joseba Torre (1968), one of the most renowned contemporary Basque composers.

The concert will be part of the International Conference of Contemporary Music organized by Kuraia in the context of the TopARTE Program of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Performers: Kuraia Ensemble: Xabier Calzada (flute), Mikel Albistur (oboe), Sergio Barranco (clarinet), Aitor Gullón (bassoon), Asier Urreta (French horn); María Eugenia Luc, artistic director, and Andrea Cazzaniga, chief conductor
