
MEM Festival Performances

The Museum is hosting two sessions of the MEM International Experimental Art Festival curated by Txema Agiriano. On Friday 7, there will be an extended film screening with dancing and live music, showcasing the première of “Variation around the evidence”, a film by Josu Rekalde that reflects on the truthfulness of information we receive via social media. This will be followed by a performance by Sandra Corrigan Breathnach based on an ancient tradition from western Ireland.
On Saturday 8, within Richard Serra’s art installation “The Matter of Time”, Dutch artist Janneke van der Putten will be giving an experimental a cappella musical performance.
Organized in partnership with MEM as part of the Museum’s TopARTE program.

Janneke van der Putten, Cycles: Overtones and Glottis Attack
Van der Putten will explore Richard Serra's art installation The Matter of Time, striking a deep physical and emotional connection with the artwork. This is an exceptional acoustic intervention in which the ancestral value of the voice will be laid bare, calling on and out to times and traditions gone by. Body and sound will create profoundly moving experiences and stunning interactions in this truly unique setting.
