Musical Performances: Resonant Sculpture Project

Avram Fefer, renowned American musician and composer, brings his music to unusual places, such as Richard Serra’s sculptural environment. Fefer’s Resonant Sculpture Project —a site-specific series of performances based on acoustic interactions between Fefer’s improvisations and Serra’s large-scale sculptures— has been to the Gagosian Gallery in Paris, London, and New York.

At the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Avram Fefer will perform inspired by Serra’s The Matter of Time, the series of sculptures belonging to the Museum Permanent Collection. There will be two performances, consisting of Fefer’s saxophone response to his experience of Serra’s sculptures and the architectural environment where they stand.

Both performances will be followed by a talk with the artist, to discuss the experience. The activity will take place in English.
