In the context of the exhibition Uramado AR, which is being held in Bilbao, the Institut Français Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao have organized a series of children’s workshops on digital art. Uramado AR, created by Julie Stephen Cheng, offers an experience in augmented reality, telling the story of Tanukis, spirits of the forest waking up in the city. Using a tablet or a smartphone and the free app, participants will go on a treasure hunt route across the city to find these fascinating creatures. As they are discovered one by one, they come to life, ask questions, and respond to the user’s replies. The conversations with them can shed light on the differences between us and the multiplicity of worldviews available, in an experience that is both playful and poetic.

In this Museum workshop, children will have to find the Tanukis and learn about them with the help of drawing. They will make up stories and draw scenes based on the characters from Japanese mythology brought to life by augmented reality. At the end of the route, they will discover that they themselves are spirits too, and they will make their own colorful masks! The masks will also come to life thanks to augmented reality. Participants can then take their masks home to go on playing.

12:30 pm–2:00 pm: 15 children
