TECHNIQUES AND PROCESSES IN THE DRAWINGS OF SERRA AND SEURAT

As part of the Didaktika project, the Museum designs educational areas, online contents, and special activities to complement the exhibitions, offering tools and resources to aid appreciation of the works on display.

The Didaktika section of Serra/Seurat. Drawings is centered on the techniques and materials used by the two artists in their drawing practice. The choice of paper, its texture and size, the tools employed, and the use of black as the sole color are equally essential for both Georges Seurat and Richard Serra.

In this section, we shall find additional information on the topics mentioned, and an area where we can feel the texture and thickness of different types of paper, Eastern and Western. Two zones are dedicated to screening excerpts from documentaries on the influence of Seurat’s treatment of light on other artists over different periods, and the importance of the practice of drawing in Serra’s career.
