2025 was a particularly positive year for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in terms of the public’s support, as it welcomed 1,305,003 visitors, 3,660 more than in 2024. The months of May, June, and July were the best in the Museum’s history, making this summer the second best to this day, after the summer of 2023. These are very positive results that confirm that the Museum’s new period under the leadership of its new Director General, Miren Arzalluz, is getting off to a great start.
By geographic origin, the percentage of foreign visitors rose compared to the previous year (69% of the total). Most of them came from France (15%), Germany (9%), Great Britain (9%), the United States (6%), and Italy (5%). The Basque Country accounted for 10% of visitors, while 21% came from the rest of Spain, most notably from Catalonia (4%) and Madrid (4%), as in previous years.
The Museum’s main attraction for the public in 2025 was its ambitious, varied art program. Tarsila do Amaral, showcased from February to June, was visited by 354,872 people; Masterpieces on Paper from Budapest, open from February to May, welcomed 340,043 visitors; in situ: Refik Anadol, organized with the support of 10F1 as a Partner, Euskaltel as a Technological Partner, and the collaboration of Google Cloud, was visited by 891,460 people between the months of March and October, making it the exhibition with the most visitors; from April through September, 810,145 people enjoyed Helen Frankenthaler. Painting without Rules, sponsored by the Fundación BBVA, which has become the fifth most visited exhibition in the Museum’s history; the Film & Video show Vito Acconci / Sergio Prego. YOU was visited by 750,233 people between April and September; and 657,086 people had the chance to enjoy the Barbara Kruger exhibition, sponsored by Occident. Furthermore, thus far 201,589 people have visited Maria Helena Vieira da Silva. Anatomy of Space, a show that opened last October. Finally, the 1,305,003 visitors that attended the Museum in 2025 were able to enjoy the presentations of Works from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection, sponsored by the BBK Bank Foundation.
In the digital sphere, the guggenheim-bilbao.eus website logged a total of 2,722,205 visits and 10,341,267 pages visited in 2025, while the Museum’s social media continued to expand their community and influence, with 899,546 followers on Instagram, 339,065 on X (formerly Twitter), and 394,558 on Facebook.
Regarding its educational programs, 81,220 people participated in the different in-person and online activities offered by the Museum in 2025, and 1,221,366 made use of the educational spaces that complement the art program.
In terms of the public programs, those targeted to people over the age of 65 have become a regular feature, specifically Breakfast & Art, and new partnerships have been forged as part of the TOParte program, namely with the Open Bilbao and Bideotikan festivals, which showcase new technologies applied to artistic creation. Likewise, the activities and contents related to wellness actions via art as part of the Museum’s Wellbeing program are also worth noting.
Regarding schools, 27,133 children visited the Museum, while 7,618 people participated in the activities targeted at families. Furthermore, Educators Community, the free online community for teachers, now has 5,836 members, 23% more than in 2024.
In terms of the Museum’s social programs, 3,047 people in situations of vulnerability or with disabilities were able to visit the Museum or participate in creative activities aimed at strengthening their resilience and fostering their integration. The BBK Bank Foundation is the sponsor of these programs, which promote an inclusive, integrative culture model. Finally, 480 people, both children and adults, participated in the Wellbeing program.
A large community
Regarding individual Museum Members, more than 426,143 people are now part of the Community that the Museum created around art and culture. Broken down by groups, this Community is made up of 24,393 Museum Members, the highest number since the Museum opened, which confirms its broad backing by local society, as well as 401,127 Followers, who receive regular information about the exhibitions and activities offered by the Museum and other benefits (pre-sales, online content, etc.) free of charge. Finally, in 2025, there were 623 beneficiaries of the Erdu Program, which provides free access to the Museum for unemployed people.
The Museum received extraordinary corporate support in 2025. There was a notable increase in structural partnerships, with 140 Corporate Members, eleven companies more than in 2024. Likewise, many exhibitions and activities received backing from businesses in the guise of sponsorships, and yet another year, these monetary contributions as a whole proved to be essential support in funding the annual budget.

Yet another year, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao remains a leading European cultural institution in its self-financing levels, which stood at around 78% in 2025.
