Receives the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas from the Spanish Ministry of Culture. With Jorge Oteiza, represents Spain at the XLIIIBiennale di Venezia. Takes part in the Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.
Solano’s work is exhibited at the Städtisches Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Exhibits at Donald Young Gallery in Chicago. Solano’s work is shown alongside Sol LeWitt’s at Marta Cervera Gallery in New York.
Holds exhibitions at the Mala Galerija in Ljubljana, Slovenia; Galería Luís Revenga in Madrid; Galería Línea in Madrid; and La Fattoria di Celle in Santomato, Italy.
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Bignan, France, and Galerie Lelong in Paris mount exhibitions of Solano’s work. Her work is featured in the exhibition La mémoire de la liberté at the Musée national d’art moderne-Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
A retrospective of Solano’s work from the previous fourteen years is presented at the Palacio de Velázquez, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid; it later travels to Grenoble, London, and Malmö, Sweden. Her sculpture Dime, dime querido is installed at the Área Olímpica in Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympic Games. Presents the exhibition Hidroteràpia at Galeria Joan Prats and Joan Prats Artgràfic in Barcelona. Takes part in Documenta 9 in Kassel, Germany.
