A plan for Tokyo 2021

“A plan for Tokyo 2021” is a vision of a future where diverse mobility coexists in the context of the city of Tokyo. The Tokyo Expressway, which was made to alleviate the congestion of cars during the period of rapid economic growth, is renovated into the Buil.climb, a 2.8 km hill which stands at an altitude of 210 meters, making it a sacred place for cyclists. The parking lot, which will eventually become obsolete, is transformed into an urban farm. The rooftop mechanical area, which is transformed with the introduction of natural energy, will be reclaimed as a second ground, with drone ports and sports fields. The ground will be lively again as a rich range of activities emerge.

By critically reevaluating the 20th century’s prioritization of high-speed and mass transportation, we believe we can carve out the future and give the city experience back to the human body.
