Gallery 202

Agustin-Ibarrola-Mural-de-traviesas

As a corollary to the exhibition Arts of the Earth, this gallery reflects on artistic abstraction as a means of engaging with materials in their silent magnificence. These works belong to a future that is half-dreamed, half-lived, where artistic creation merges with the very becoming of matter. The accumulation of leaves and the weaving or splitting of twigs and trunks contrast with the plasticity of natural fluids, such as wax and latex, as well as materials of mineral origin traditionally associated with sculpture, such as bronze and glass. The potential of organic formations allows us to envision perpetual metamorphoses between plant, animal, and mineral realms. Plant compositions take on the appearance of plumage, skin, and bone, evoking a circular dialogue between ecosystems and dreams.
