Royal College of Art

Intelligent Mobility Design Centre

Launched in May 2016, the Intelligent Mobility Design Centre (IMDC) is the first of the new research centres to be established by the Royal College of Art. IMDC leads research at the intersection of people, mobility and technology, within complex and changing urban and global environments. IMDC also provides a design-led disruptive environment for the development of new approaches to innovation for automotive manufacturers.

This exhibition presents seminal work of the IMDC and showcases two distinct projects. The first, a series of scale prototypes and concepts from the Bentley Aeon project, is a collaboration between IMDC and Bentley that looks at the long-term evolution of vehicles as part of reimagined sustainable systems. The second is a series of concept videos from a project with Lexus. Titled “The Soul of Future Premium”, it explores a new European urban mobility landscape at the confluence of cultural identity and future technology.
